Ojców National Park
Ojców National Park, although the smallest national park in Poland, is full of picturesque valleys, ravines, and limestone rocks. It offers many attractions of various character – from natural to historical and cultural. Here are the most interesting places worth seeing:
- Castle in Ojców – Ruins of a medieval castle built during the times of Casimir the Great. Located on a hill, offering a beautiful view of the Prądnik Valley. Interesting defensive history and a legend related to its construction.
- Prądnik Valley – The main valley of the park, through which the Prądnik river flows. Ideal for walks and bike trips (bike routes). There are numerous rock formations, such as the "Kraków Gate" – a natural rock gate formed by two tall limestone pillars. One of the most recognizable places in the park. Nearby is the "Spring of Love", which according to legend brings luck to lovers, and also the "Deotyma's Needle".
- Dark Cave – One of the largest caves in Poland. The cave houses remnants of Paleolithic settlements. An excellent place for archaeology and nature enthusiasts. It is considered one of the most valuable archaeological sites in Poland.
- Łokietek Cave – The most famous cave in the park, associated with the legend of Władysław Łokietek hiding there. It has several chambers and corridors that can be visited with a guide. The lighting and rock formations create a unique atmosphere.
- "On the Water" Chapel – A wooden chapel built on piles over the Prądnik river. It was built in 1901 as an expression of protest against the ban on building churches on royal land. A unique monument of sacral architecture in Poland.
- Boroniówka Mill Settlement - the most beautiful of the preserved mills.
- Sąspów Valley – Quieter and less frequented than the Prądnik Valley. Ideal for those seeking peace and contact with nature.
- Ojców National Park Museum – Located in Ojców, it offers exhibitions on geology, fauna, flora, and park history. A good place to start sightseeing to better understand the uniqueness of the region.
